Avonside 0-4-0 Saddle Tank No. 1498 ‘Desmond’ resides in the Engine Shed at Llangollen on 15th March 2011. Built in 1906, the locomotive spent its working life at the Orb Steelworks, and then became a static exhibit at the Caerphilly Railway in 1976. It is now undergoing a full restoration, funded by a Heritage Lottery Fund grant, after being donated by the National Museums and Galleries of Wales to the Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway.
