This scanned from print image shows 47 299 in Crewe works during the Open Day on 2nd June 1984. Originally numbered 47 216 this loco was the subject of much comment early in 1984. It was reported that it had been 'seen' by a Clairvoyant in a dream hauling a rake of oil tanks and number visible in collision with a DMU in which a passenger was killed. The Clairvoyant convinced BR sufficiently that they changed the number to 47 299. It was an Immingham loco and regularly hauled oil tanks.
Sadly the prediction came true. 47 299 was in collision with a DMU at Barnetby and a passenger was killed as fortold. Hence it visit to the Heavy Repair shop at Crewe Works.
