Class 70 doyen No. 70001 made its first visit to Scotland on August 17 when it worked overnight freightliner 4s59 between Basford Hall and Coatbridge. Its return journey with 4M74 from Coatbridge to Basford Hall was operated in daylight and was caught near the summit of the climb out of Preston at Euxton on August 18.
