With classmate 45407 Lancahire Fusilier leading, LMS Black 5 4-6-0 No. 44871 brings up the rear as the two locomotives, sandwiching their support coach, run tender first along the South Wales mainline Up Fast towards Newport in the morning of on 10th July 2010. On reaching East Usk Yard, 45407 will run round and the two locomotives will then run back through Newport station to wait at Alexandra Dock Junction for the arrival of the stock of The Central Wales Explorer. The Black 5's will take the train back to Manchester Victoria via Llandrindod Wells and Shrewsbury.
