The countrywide introduction of the 'OV Chipkaart' smart card for all public transport was reason for state owned operator NS to repaint two of their latest generation vIRM sets into the smart card colours.
Here we see vIRM 9521 (in Intercity livery) and 9522 in 'OV Chipkaart' promotional colours just after passes Duivendrecht station on their way to Amsterdam Centraal while working Intercity 852 from Maastricht to Alkmaar.
