No. 55009 ALYCIDON races through Doncaster at the head of 1E27 10:25 Aberdeen - King's Cross on 19th August 1978, which it had worked from Edinburgh. The locomotive is still sporting side window quarter lights, marker dots in the headcode panel and sandboxesin the nose ends. These were all removed in December of that year when it entered Doncaster Works for it's final intermediate repair.
