Saturday 14th March 2009 proved to be a problomatic day at the Mid Hants Railway. Standard 5 73096 suffered cylinder falure outside Ropley. Resident Class 33/2 D6593 was sent to assist. As it was leaving Ropley it suffered a traction motor fire. With the flames still visible under the loco the crew attempt to put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher
