The early batches of 4-SUBs had handrails above the cab windows, whereas later units did not. One such early unit heads a Waterloo to Horsham train approaching Clapham Junction in July 1983, about to pass 4-EPB no. 5010, whose driver cools his arm out of the cab window on this scorching hot day.
