Penistone station on 3rd January 1970, the penultimate day of the passenger service over the Woodhead route, EM1 No. 26053 'Perseus' awaits departure with an afternoon train from Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield Victoria. The lines to the left is the branch to Huddersfield which still has a regular passenger service from Sheffield via Barnsley.
