The preserved Gernrode Harzgerode Eisenbahn railcar No No. T1 waits in Alexisbad Station on route from Hasselfelde to Gernrode on after being on display at Stiege as part of the towns 500 years celebration on 17th May 1993. The railcar was built in 1933 by Waggonfabrik Dessau and used for off peak traffic on the Selketalbahn. This was the only railcar used by the GHE and was for a short period used by the DR as a maintenance vehicle, before being restored to its original condition in 1990. Today it can be hired for private charter from the HSB for 500 Euros for a 70 Kms trip for 25 passengers. But it’s a slow and bumpy ride.
