The Ffestiniog Railways Fairlie, No. EarlofMerioneth, arrives in Tan-Y-Bwlch one hour late on the first train of the day from Pothmadog on 5th July 2008. The reason for the delay was it hit a tree which had fallen across the track 500 m outside the station. The event is commemorated by a twig from the offending tree replacing the headlamp, which was damaged in the incident
