The first revenue-earning Class 350 run for Trans Pennine Express calls at Preston on 30th December 2013, formed of Class 350/4s Nos. 350401 and 350403. Fred Kerr

The first of the new electric multiple unit fleet for First TransPennine Express entered revenue-earning service on the morning of 30th December 2013.

TPE had said earlier in the year, that they hoped the Class 350/4s would enter traffic before the end of 2013, and with a little under 40 hours to go, Nos. 350401 and 350403 formed the 07:15 Manchester Piccadilly to Glasgow Central, via Golborne Junction, service. The train, which operated around five minutes late throughout, was the first public operation of the Siemens fleet over the newly electrified section from Manchester Oxford Road to Golbourne Junction, and marks the start of a new era of operations for TransPennine Express.
