The last of 20 brand new Translink NI Railways Class 4000 trains arrived on 3rd July into Belfast docks.

The arrival of train no.4020 completes the £114m investment order funded by the Department for Regional Development and continues the successful introduction of Class 4000 trains onto the local rail network. The final train will be subject to rigorous testing before it enters public service later this year and all 20 new trains will be fully commissioned and in service later this year.

Translink NI Railways passenger numbers have risen by over 70% in the last 10 years and with the highest numbers in decades recorded last year it is expected the latest new fleet will enable Translink to build on this success.
