HNRC Class 37/6 No. 37607, on hire to Colas Rail, left Derby RTC on 7th January 2025 with the 20:11 overnight infrastructure monitoring working to Preston, but failed near Longport on returning towards Derby on 8th January 2025 with a fuel pump problem. A DRS Class 57 was sent to push the failure away from the mainline to Stoke North Yard (the Class 57 returning to Crewe) and then Colas Rail Class 37 No. 37219 was sent from Rugby to rescue the working, but this locomotive experience problems near Lichfield, and was diverted, without helping the stranded train, from Stafford to Derby RTC. The following morning Colas Rail Class 37 No. 37175 travelled from Derby RTC to Stoke to form the 09:55 rescue working from Stoke North Yard to Derby RTC, seen passing Hatton, Derbyshire, on 9th January 2025 with the errant No. 37607 on the rear of the train.
