During the upgrade to the WCML in 2003, many additional services operated between Manchester Piccadilly and St Pancras via the MML under the name 'Project Rio'. Additional stock was drafted in and resulted many different-liveried formations. On 25th May 2003, Class 43 No. 43054 passes Hasland with the 1446 Manchester Piccadilly to St Pancras service.
