In recent times, excursion trains are seldom seen on the line from Blackburn to Bolton, so Class 57/3 No. 57306 with 57310 at the rear of the formation are a welcome sight as they pass through Darwen with the Branch Line Society's the Glasgow GM 0944 working from Glasgow Central to Derby, this was a one way only journey, on 23rd June 2024.
