EMR Class 170 DMU No. 170272 failed at Uttoxeter on 24th April 2024 while on the 08:41 Newark Castle to Crewe service, and then worked the 11:05 Uttoxeter to Nottingham ECS movement, providing the unusual sight of a DMU on the freight-only Castle Donington line, avoiding Derby, as seen at Barrow on Trent. No. 170272 later completed services from Nottingham to Lincoln and Peterborough.
