On 1st September 1981, CIE 001 Class No. 009 passes Dun Laoghaire with empty ammonia tanks from the Irish Fertiliser Industries Limited plant at Shelton Abbey, near Arklow, to Marino Point, Cork. This traffic ceased by 2002 when the fertiliser factory closed down.
