On 1st October 1982, Prince Charles visited the army in Aldershot. The Royal Train came from Aberdeen and ran-round at Farnham before terminating at Aldershot. The locomotive from Mitre Bridge Junction onto the Southern Region is Class 33/0 No. 33027 'Earl Mountbatten of Burma'. The white edges of the island platforms have been repainted for this visit.
