The rugged footpath which follows the southern ramp of the BLS main line is on the right as BLS Class Re4/4 No. 186 emerges from the much tunnelled section between Ausserberg and Hohtenn on 12.01 Brig-Zurich Flughafen on 4th March 1994. Directly below this point in the Rhone valley over 1000ft below is the village of Raron where the southern portal of the Loetschberg Base Tunnel is now situated.
