To obtain photographs such as this you need a stout pair of footware, a head for heights and a degree of stamina. A footpath follows the southern ramp of the Loetschberg Railway which at this point is 1200ft above the Rhone Valley on the descent from the Loetschberg Tunnel to Brig.Unidentified SBB Class Re4/4II and Class Re6/6II are high above the Rhone Valley south of Hohtenn on a southbound unidentified heavy freight on 4th March 1994. The Loetschberg route was formerly single track over the mountainous section but was doubled in to 1970/1980 period and the train is passing over the original single rack viaduct with the new viaduct clearly identified on the Rhone Valley side of the by then double track.
