Intercity Class 43s Nos. 43166 and 43178 reduce speed passing Shallowford south of Norton Bridge to cross from the Down Slow line to the North Staffs line on 6.05 Bristol TM-Manchester Piccadilly on 4th September 1993.The diversion scheme completed five years or so ago has eliminated this movement and the route via Searchlight Lane Junction now passes the fields marked by the trees above the leading power car to flyover the WCML north of Norton Bridge.
