Deputising for unavailable steam traction, Class 40 No. 40145 powers through Docker on 27th May 2023 with the 06.53 Darlington - Appleby Northern Belle working. The train operated via Newcastle, the Tyne Valley and WCML to Preston where No. 40145 took over for the run to Appleby via Upperby Junction. It later worked to Newcastle via Skipton and York. WCRC Class 57 No. 57313 Scarborough Castle was providing rear end assistance.
