On 1st May 2023 the NYMR ran a special service to celebrate 50 years since the official opening of the line from Grosmont to Pickering. The locomotives chosen for this service were ex NER 0-6-0 No. 65894 and LH and JC 0-6-2T No. 29 as both these locomotives been used on the Royal train that inaugarated the line on 1st May 1973. The locomotives are seen being prepped for the days activities outside the running shed at Grosmont MPD. 1st May 2023.
