Signs of the forthcoming ECML electrification are evident as Class 31/1 No. 31280 heads a ballast train up Gamston bank near Eaton Wood on 7th March 1986. Withdrawn in 1988 No. 31280 was scrapped by CF Booth, Rotherham in 1991.
