A very unusual combination of motive power was used on the 12.46 Carlisle Yard - Crewe Basford Hall engineers working on 25th March 2022. DRS class 88 No. 88007 Electra leads class 68 No. 68005 Defiant as the pair lead a lengthy assortment of wagons through Long Preston. This was thought to be the first use of a class 88 on this working.
