On 22nd February 2022, West Coast Rail operated a test run of the Northern Belle stock following its winter overhaul and ahead of the 2022 operating season. Smart WCRC Class 47s No. 47812 (in blue) and 47815 in two tone green head through Long Preston with the 09.48 Carnforth - Hellifield Goods Loops working, which later returned to Carnforth via Blackburn and Preston.
