Andrew Barclay 0-6-0T No. 17 blasts its way through NCB Pennyvenie Colliery, Ayrshire with a load of empty coal wagons from Waterside Washery on 24th February 1977. The severity of the gradient up to the colliery can be judged by the tops of the wagons disappearing down the hill. Of interest to the right of No. 17 is the raft of 4 wheel side tipper wagons used for the disposal of waste matter dug up with coal.
