In Tyne & Wear PTE yellow and white livery Heaton TMD allocated Class 143 No. 143022, formed of DMS No. 55663 and DMSL No. 55688 wait in Newcastle Central Station for the days services to begin on 5th June 1988. Just six of the 25 Class 143 units carried this livery from delivery in early 1986. By 1991, it had been renumbered as Class 143/6 No. 143622, repainted in Regional Railways colours and re-allocated to Cardiff TMD where it remains today.
