Locomotive No. RS8 was built in 1923 at Avonside as a 0-4-0ST, but unusually was converted into a 0-4-0DM diesel at Tunstead quarry in 1960, using a Rolls-Royce C6NFL engine. Initially preserved at Dinting it moved to the National Stone Centre, Wirksworth, in 1992, where it is seen next to the High Peak Trail on 11th July 2011. No.RS8 moved in 2016 to Peak Rail as part of the Andrew Briddon collection and is under renovation.
