From 1894 to 1990 a funicular railway took passengers from Clifton Hill to the boat dock at Niagara Falls on the Canadian side, after which lifts were used. On 18th June 2018 this railway is seen under a 1.5 million dollar refurbishment in order to increase passenger flows to the popular Hornblower boats giving very close up views of the American and Horseshoe Falls.
