Metre gauge 0-4-0 steam locomotive Minar is seen in Reykjavik on 3rd July 2017. It was built in Germany and shipped to Iceland in 1913 to help build the harbour. It also has a sibling which is also preserved. The very low population, large distances, difficult terrain and the motor car ensured that railways didn't catch on in Iceland
