On 21st June 2017, Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway First Class six-wheeler compartment coach No. 279 was relaunched into service on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway after an extensive restoration. This carriage was built in 1880 at Newton Heath and withdrawn in 1910. Instead of being scrapped, it found a new lease of life as a home at Valley Gardens, near Burnley. It was rescued from demolition by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Trust and restored enabling passengers to sample once again the delights of 1st class Victorian-era travel.
