Class 31 No. 31465 stands at Lancaster station with the 19.35 service to Hull on 29th June 1985. Introduced in July 1960, the locomotive is in its 57th year of service, now part of Network Rail's small fleet. Interestingly, 32 years after the date of this picture, a direct Lancaster - Hull journey is not possible, would involve a Pacer DMU as far as Leeds, rather than Mk1 coaches and a change of train at Leeds itself.
