Scruffy Class 50 No. 50038 Formidable is seen at Birmingham New Street being detached from the 13.07 service from Paddington on a busy summer. Having been attached to the other end of the stock, the locomotive ran via the Perry Bar loop to gain access to platform 2 to form a return service to Paddington. 50038 was withdrawn in September 1988 and cut up a year later.
