ABB York built the Class 166/2 fleet during 1992/1993 and delivered the 21 strong fleet to BR's Western Region in Network South East red, white and blue livery. Upon privatisation they acquired the white, blue and green livery of Thames Trains Express as seen in this image of Class 166/2 No. 166220 as it waits for departure time with a service to London Paddington on 15th March 2003. 13 years later they operate the same services for First Great Western Railway and are being repainted into their distinctive dark green livery.
