Class 47/4 No. 47842 passes Betchworth on 14th July 1991 with the 14:30 Brighton - Glasgow Central service. These InterCity services were diverted through Guildford ons at that time due to engineering work in connection with the construction of North Pole Depot in readiness for the start of Eurostar services a few years later.
