The RhB Mainline from St Moritz to Chur at Bergun viewed from the village of Latsch. The train in the centre of the picture is a St Moritz-Chur Express and almost above the loco the next section of the route can be seen turning the line northward facing having traversed God Semi Spiral Tunnel. After a further reversal in Platz Semi Spiral Tunnel the route resumes a southward line and can be seen as a horizontal line in the snow clearing towards the top left hand upper of the picture just before Muot Crossing Station. A further Semi Spiral Tunnel and 2 complete Spirals are negotiated before the line reaches Preda, in a straight line 4 miles from Bergun but the route negotiates almost 8 miles to overcome a height difference of 1350ft despite the ruling gradient of 1 in 29.
