Helping to turn the air over Knottingley blue on 11th May 1986, is Romanian-built Class 56 No. 56003. Delivered during February 1977 it would remain in service until being withdrawn during February 2004 having spent all of its BR life allocated to either Tinsley or Toton Depots. After a period in store it was sold to Devon & Cornwall Railways in September 2008 and returned to the BR Network as Class 56/3 No. 56312. Still in service with DCR in 2015, it is currently named 'Jeremiah Dixon'. Of the Class 08s in the background No. 08056 was withdrawn just 3 months later and scrapped by Vic Berry in Leicester during May 1989 while classmate No. 08516 is still extant currently operating within Bristol Barton Hill Depot. Class 56 No. 56115 at the rear of the image was withdrawn during December 2006 and subsequently exported to Hungary in September 2012 where it operates as No. 0659 002-3.
