Class 91 No. 91024 is displayed on lifting jacks at the BREL Crewe Works 150th Anniversary Open Day held on Saturday 21st July 1990. To help reduce track wear the traction motors are mounted inside the body of the locomotive and drive bogie mounted gearboxes via cardan shafts. The circular attachment for one of these drive shafts can been seen under the loco in the centre of the image. Delivered during September 1990 No. 91024 has worked ECML services for nearly 25 years being reclassified and renumbered as Class 91/1 No. 91124 during February 2003 and is currently in East Coast grey and purple stripe livery.
