BR Class 45 Peak No. 45033 heads towards Birmingham New Street with the 08:20hrs service from Leeds at Washwood Heath on 2nd February 1983. New from Derby Works in July 1961 as D39 (pre-TOPS), the locomotive saw 26 years of service being withdrawn in February 1988 and was cut up at MC Metals (Springburn) in February 1992. The backdrop of Nechells gas holders and power station cooling towers are now but a memory.
