CIE 'A' Class Metropolitan Vickers Co-Co A53 is one of sixty class members built between 1955-56. All were re-engined with EMD units but this loco is yet to be modified. It awaits departure from Cork Station with a northbound service on 30th July 1970. Note the array of semaphore signals, double track avoiding line and rows of cattle wagons in the distance. All now a distant memory.
