Sunday the 7th May 1978 finds Class 06 No. 06003 tucked around the back of Eastfield MPD Glasgow in company with an unidentified Class 25. However closer examination of the cabside number on the Class 06 reveals it to be marked as No. 206003. In the late 1970s this shunter always seemed to be stabled out of use on Eastfield Depot but this was the only occasion I saw it numbered like this. Did it ever work in traffic carrying this number as the extra 2 appears to match shade wise so May have been attached for some time. No. 06003 subsequently moved to Dunfermine Depot in March 1979 and finally to Dundee in October 1980 from where she was withdrawn in February 1981. Hauled in freight trains all the way from Scotland to Reading for use at the BR Signal Works she was subsequently purchased for preservation and can currently be found at the Peak Rail site at Rowsley, Derbyshire.
