Harzer Schmalspurbahnen 0-4-4-0 Mallet No. 99 5901 rests on Wernigerode Shed on Wednesday 2nd July 2014. Built in 1897 by Arn Jung at their Jungenthal Works near Kirchen Germany she carries the works number 258 and is the oldest still operable narrow gauge steam engine in the Harz region of Germany. Normal steam services from Wernigerode are in the hands of the new build 2-10-2 tank engines and No. 99 5901 and her sister loco No. 99 5902 are kept for special services up to the Brocken Summit using heritage coaching stock.
