Class 47 No. 47443 opens up after coming off the NSR line at Norton Bridge on 14:18 Manchester Piccadilly-Euston, unusually operated by diesel traction, on 17th March 1988. This scene is due to see considerable change in the next 2 years, with the elimination of the flat junction on/off the NS route, in favourof a flyover which will crossover the WCML, off the picture to the north.
