To mark the Diamond Jubilee of the Railway Correspondence & Travel Society LNER Class A4 No. 4468 Mallard ran a York-Sheffield-Manchester-York Special here seen at Miles Platting Junction Manchester on 30th July 1988. Shortly after this trip No. 4468 retired from mainline use to the NRM York.
