Very few lines in Swithzerland have been closed but the isolated RhB branch between Bellinzona and Messocco in Canton Ticino has been abandoned at the upper end and only a short section from Castione to Cama is operated by a preservation group. In happier days, ABDe4/4 Railcar No. 453 sits in the upper terminus at Messocco on an unrecorded date in September 1958. The branch was unique as far as the RhB was concerned because apart from the short section of the ex Bernina Railway between Campocologno and Tirano in Italy the RhB operates wholly within Canton Graubunden.
