Network Rail's Windhoff Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) No. DR98906 (trailing) and No. DR98956 pass Drakelow East Junction on Tuesday 29th April 2014 spraying weed killer along the Burton-on-Trent to Knighton Junction (Leicester) freight-only line. The MPVs are currently based and serviced at the Midland Railway Centre at Butterley and on this day began its spraying duties by working 6Z13, 07:26 Butterley MRC to Butterley MRC, which took the MPV via Toton, Castle Donington, Burton-on-Trent and Coalville to Knighton Junction, where it reversed and returned to Butterley via the same route as its outward journey. The remains of the former east curve spur into Drakelow Power Station (closed in 2003) are to the right of the picture.
