With less than one month to go before storage and withdrawl Class 20 No. 20118 is exhibited at the Crewe Basford Hall Yard Open Day on Sunday 27th August 1995. Although in rather tatty Railfreight Grey with Red Solebar livery No. 20118 carries some extra embellishments. The loco number is displayed above the coupling on the buffer beam and on the solebar under the cab window is the legend Saltley LIP. New in March 1962 as Type 1 No. D8118 she would be allocated to BR's Scottish Region for many years at the Glasgow depots of Eastfield and Polmadie before being transferred to Tinsley TMD in March 1985. Further transfers took No. 20118, as she was now known, to Thornaby, Toton and finally in August 1993 to Bescot TMD. Stored on 26th September 1995 and then withdrawn on 4th December 1995 No. 20118 was finally purchased for preservation on the South Devon Railway in mid 1999.
Subsequently sold in April 2011 No. 20118 moved to Barrow Hill for recertification and in October 2013 returned to service on the National Network with Freight Company GBRf.
