English Electric Type 4 Class 40 No. 40002 doubleheads a northbound chemical tanks train with an unidentified Class 25 at Blea Moor Signal Box on a lovely evening on 23rd April 1981. On the next day the Settle-Carlisle was closed by an intense, prolonged blizzard, as depicted in the photograph taken from Horton signal box on 24th April 1981.
